About Me

I am a Labour Councillor in Manchester representing the Longsight ward - one of the most diverse communities in the North West, I am Assistant Executive Member for Community and Cultural Services and Lead Member for Race.

I was first elected to Manchester City Council in 2008 taking the seat from the Lib Dems with a swing of over 30 per cent gaining a majority of 1147. I was re-elected in 2012 doubling my majority.

I started my working life in the Restaurant trade, working my way up to Chef and Manager going on to own my own Restaurant.

I am a qualified Financial adviser and have also worked as an intermediary.

I work very closely with the community supporting various voluntary organisations and charities. I am particulary passionate about empowering young people and women.

To further these goals; I am a board member of the Young Foundations Uprising programme, advisor to Manchester Youth Academy and Just Help Foundation.

I was awarded the Community Champion of the Year at the LGIU Councillor Awards for 2011.
